El piloto neerlandés Max Verstappen, de Red Bull, registró el mejor tiempo en la segunda práctica libre del Gran Premio de la Ciudad de México, vigésima fecha del campeonato de Fórmula 1 2025, con un crono de 1:17.392, superó por 152 milésimas al Ferrari de Charles Leclerc, quien había liderado la primera sesión del día y mantuvo un ritmo sólido en el Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
A pesar de no quedarse con el mejor tiempo, Leclerc mostró consistencia y velocidad en cada sector del trazado, completando un viernes sin errores ni fallas mecánicas, tanto Ferrari como Red Bull probaron los tres compuestos duro, medio y blando, aprovechando la jornada para afinar la estrategia de cara a la clasificación y la carrera, en la FP1, los equipos también dieron pista a sus pilotos jóvenes: Arvid Lindblad por Red Bull y Antonio Fuoco por Ferrari.
El joven italiano Kimi Antonelli destacó nuevamente al colocarse tercero con Mercedes, quedando a solo 174 milésimas del líder. Su jornada fue equilibrada, combinando pruebas con neumáticos medios y blandos, lo que confirma su buena adaptación al trazado mexicano, en contraste, McLaren vivió un día complicado, con Lando Norris finalizando cuarto y Oscar Piastri relegado al duodécimo puesto.
El australiano Piastri mantiene una ventaja de 14 puntos sobre Norris y de 40 sobre Verstappen en el campeonato, pero su bajo rendimiento en México genera dudas antes de las últimas cinco carreras del calendario, la tercera práctica libre se disputará este sábado a las 11:30 horas (tiempo del centro de México), seguida de la clasificación, que definirá el orden de salida para una carrera que promete altas emociones en la capital mexicana.
