La poblana Miriam Sánchez Tapia concluyó su participación en el Campeonato Mundial de Atletismo en Tokio, convirtiéndose en la primera mexicana en disputar las semifinales de los 200 metros planos en la historia de esta competencia.
Ante más de 50 mil espectadores en el Estadio Nacional de Tokio, la velocista culminó en el octavo lugar de su heat semifinal, registrando un tiempo de 23.12 segundos, en la misma serie, destacaron Anavia Battle de Estados Unidos con 22.09 segundos y Marie-Josée Ta Lou Smith de Costa de Marfil con 22.17 segundos, quienes lograron clasificar a la final.
Aunque no avanzó a la última ronda, Sánchez escribió un hito para el deporte poblano, al ser la primera atleta de la entidad en correr esta prueba en un Mundial, y para México, al convertirse en la cuarta velocista nacional en competir en los 200 metros planos en este certamen internacional.
Su desempeño representa un paso histórico para el atletismo mexicano, inspirando a nuevas generaciones de deportistas a seguir abriendo camino en pruebas de velocidad a nivel mundial.
